Legacy 2024

Legacy 2024

The Bishop Gallery is pleased to announce Legacy, an exhibition and celebration of artistic heritage and future visions. This exhibition not only commemorates the rich legacies of exceptional historical artists but also champions the vibrant talents of emerging voices. Our gallery stands as a beacon of inclusivity and accessibility, firmly rooted in the belief that art should be a bridge connecting diverse communities and experiences. Our curated selection of artists embodies the essence of our mission, each bringing their unique perspective to the conversation.

From the captivating works of Alim Smithi (Yesterdaynite) to the thought-provoking pieces by Sophia Victor and the dynamic expressions of Charles Jean-Pierre, Jabari Jefferson, Brandon Clark, Chris Cook, Kim Rice, Eduardo Jacobs, Xavier Leopold, Bashear Allen (Kid Ballon), Edwin Luzon Harmon, Raphael Rapior, and the legendary Jean-Michel Basquiat, Legacy is a tapestry woven with diverse threads of creativity and cultural heritage.
Through exhibitions like Legacy, we strive to redefine the purpose of an art gallery, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and contributing to a future where Black people and people from marginalized communities see themselves reflected in the canon of art history.

Legacy celebrates the past, present, and future of art as we honor the legacies that have paved the way and embrace the voices that will shape tomorrow. Legacy is more
than just an exhibition—it's a testament to the power of art to unite, inspire, and transform lives.
