Brooklyn, NY — This fall, The Bishop Gallery presents Rampersad , a deeply personal and formally expansive solo exhibition marking ten years of artistic evolution. Artist King David emerges from a moment of profound personal reckoning. Ten years after the artist's father passed away in April 2016, the exhibition reframes grief not as closure, but as ignition, a generative force that continues to inform the artist's visual language and conceptual framework. Rather than functioning as a retrospective, the exhibition operates as a living archive: a convergence of past and present works that collectively map the emotional and material terrain of the artist's practice. Drawing from two recent exhibitions centered on the Caribbean heritage of the artist's parents, Rampersad unifies these explorations into a singular, cohesive statement; one that speaks to lineage, memory, and the unseen forces that shape identity.
