RESPECTFULLY,

RESPECTFULLY,

BROOKLYN, NY - The Bishop Gallery presents RESPECTFULLY, a group exhibition and public-facing campaign curated by Luz Harmon, rooted in the gallery’s commitment to creating independent spaces where artists can exhibit and thrive—regardless of permission or traditional modes of access.

Presented in Chelsea during Armory Week, RESPECTFULLY, brings that ethos into one of New York’s most established art districts. Rather than waiting for access to existing platforms, The Bishop Gallery continues a practice that has defined its history: creating its own opportunities for artists, collectors, and independent ideas to meet, develop, and be discovered.

At its core is a principle that has long shaped the gallery’s approach: discovery begins before consensus. Our role is not simply to present what has already been recognized, but to recognize what deserves to be seen—and to champion artists on the strength of the work, not the validation surrounding it.

RESPECTFULLY, is anchored by Vingt Sept and his long-awaited gallery exhibition presentation, alongside established and developing practices by Alim Smith, Ava Maria Brock, BlissArmyKnife, Rajuma Bey, Destiny Branay, King David, Dee Dwyer, Serron Green, Luz Harmon, Jabari Jefferson, Traci Johnson, William Kennedy, Lex Marie, MarCarson, Daniel Tagbo, Dimithry Victor, Virgil Warren, Esteban Whiteside, and Will Watson.

Together, the artists reflect the spirit of RESPECTFULLY, —not through a single aesthetic or point of view, but through distinct practices united by the value of looking beyond what has already been validated. The exhibition invites collectors, curators, critics, and audiences to encounter the work on its own terms and consider the role that curiosity, conviction, and independent judgment play in determining what comes next.

R E S P E C T F U L L Y , is not a rejection of the art world or its institutions. It is a statement about independence, discovery, and the conviction to create opportunity rather than wait for permission.

The comma is intentional. What comes next is still being written.
